Map up to 127 alternating samples for each velocity zone. The lower half of the window is where you adjust parameters relating to the sample playback. The drum samples are arranged in folders by type — kick, snare, toms and so on — and samples can be loaded into any one of six slots. The drum library comes loaded with some presets if you want to grab and go, but I had more fun making my own. We could get decent quality recordings with this setup but mixes required a ton of work and processing to get a thick kit sound. We do not allow for resampling of our data to another format under licensing terms thus you will need to upgrade to Trigger Platinum for such data.
Posted by Matt Parmenter on Mar 22nd 2016 I didn't recieve my authorization, called the very helpful support staff, and while I was on the phone I thought to check my spam folder and there it was. You can even make loud hits trigger low-level samples—great for taming behemoth drums on the stripped-down verse of your song. Similarly, pan, solo, mute, phase invert and envelope settings always relate to the selected instrument. This procedure works very well, though it can take a while, as you need to make separate level adjustments for each source of spill. Trigger gets high marks for interactivity and user feedback. Once the recorded Trigger samples were alongside my original tracks in Pro Tools, I did a quick accuracy test by setting my Pro Tools Transport window to read in samples, then tabbed-to-transient on my kick, snare and tom hits, and compared them to the samples on the Trigger tracks.
I automated the Sensitivity and changed the articulation to ignore the loud samples, and that was that. One instance of Trigger is required for each drum-mic track, and the sample-hit replacements come out on the same audio track. Each instance of Trigger will hold six unique samples. With up to 127 velocity layers per hit, the Z1 mono samples combine overhead and close miking, but if you prefer something a little more processed, the Z2 mono snare samples have some dynamic compression to make them easier to place in a mix, while the Z3 samples were recorded with close mics only. Although you do have deep levels of adjustment across a number of parameters, for the most part it works very well without a lot of tweaking. The samples are categorised into several groups. For example, within each drum, subsets Z1, Z2 and Z3, respectively, have some overheads mixed in, a slightly compressed attack and enhanced decay, and are straight, close-miked samples.
All samples were recorded directly to 2-inch tape through premium mics, preamps and processors, and they sound like it—they are excellent. Rest assured that we will ship this item as quickly as possible. Each of the six instruments has its own independent dynamics and velocity curves, which define how closely the dynamics of the replacement samples should reflect those of the original source. There are some exclusions so check out our Shipping Policy page in the Customer Service section at the bottom of the page. I found this necessary at the end of one song where the band broke the song down to a soft exit. You set this up by putting Trigger in an aux track, then sending the drum part you're processing to the left input and a mix of the drums that are causing spill problems to the right input. So you're all good to go.
Trigger Platinum also contains a transient triggered gate that is the ultimate tool for cleaning up drum tracks with excess leakage. Trigger includes all of the drum samples from the Steven Slate Drums Platinum sample library 31 kicks, 45 snares, and eight sets of toms and two kicks and snares each from the company''s upcoming Deluxe library. The included sample library offered a wide range of excellent drum sounds, from tight and punchy to loose and open Led Zeppelin-style. As you adjust the frequency, the text changes to tell you what drum the setting might be suitable for. Kick samples line up tight with the original kick drums, snare drum transients align perfectly, and tom fills come out exactly like the original tracks.
This shows the incoming waveform from the drum track you wish to replace or augment. Clean Slate takes only minutes to install and needs no attention, ever, for most installations. This review was written before I could get my hands on Pro Tools 9, which now has delay compensation in the Native versions. That said, Trigger doesn''t allow numeric entry of parameter values but offers stepped controls with fairly large intervals so I couldn''t set the sustain gate time exactly to the tempo of the song. Take a breath, download professional software uninstaller here to get some real help now! When layering the sound with the original, it seems unreasonable to expect perfect phase accuracy, because the exact trigger point will depend on the threshold setting and what else happens to be playing at the same time. Hits resulting in a trigger are displayed with a small orange flag on top, and a red area to the right corresponding to the retrigger inhibit time, which is set using the large Retrigger dial.
Plus you get the most expansive library of samples from Steven Slate available for Trigger. When purchasing electronic licenses or software it is your responsibility to make sure that your computer system meets and or exceed the required specification to install, run and operate the software. This was a great time-saver, allowing me to load, audition, mix and adjust my samples quickly. This item will ship as quickly as possible but there may be a lead time. Im a big Slate Digital fan and their technical support has always been excellent and very fast.
If you haven't heard any of Steven Slate's drum samples before, I have to say they're up there with the best, and by layering the various room sound samples with the dry hits, you can create just about any type of drum sound. The instructions are not very clear especially regarding suppression. Just a bit of geek out time in. Snare drums have four modes: all velocity layers; full dynamic rimshot; soft mode, missing out the louder hits; and hard mode, omitting the softer velocity layers. The browser to the left of the screen lets you search your drives for suitable samples, and you can set up a default directory that always appears when you initiate the program. It doesn't violate any policy we have unless you plan to sell them.
You can also mix multiple Z1 samples or multiple Z3 samples. Email me who responded to you at Steven. Or, mix many direct mic samples to develop your own custom unique sounds. All of my criticisms of Trigger are minor. It doesnt get much easier that that! This nifty ducker lets Trigger ignore everything but the sample you want triggered. If I had to pick a favorite feature, it would have to be Suppression.
Using the Leakage Suppression technology you can trigger a drum track with 100% accuracy even if this drum track has many loud bleeds from other drums. Once your samples are triggering properly, adjust the plug-in''s output level to taste. Currently, you can port samples into Trigger using the included Instrument Editor, but this is clunky. Trigger sounded great when used on the inserts of mono drum tracks. Other wav's or aiff files can be used with the Instrument Maker however.
