I'm getting a message saying that I don't have sufficient permissions. I typically get this when trying to empty the trash, but if the trash is not supported on the filesystem you have mounted, you may see it when trying to delete. It seems certain files in the directory permissions are not set properly. Rebooting helps but not for a long time and I also find it silly to have to reboot so I can just copy some file to a network share. About a year ago I experienced a similar issue and could not get it resolved. This is because I am guessing Preview has still got the directory open. I use Ext3 at the same router and connect successfully from my pc and from my mac.

My Compressor is on a computer that is used by many people so I don't want to have an applescript create an email via apple mail as that would mean my emails would be available on that machine.
