Tried the bypass switch and the oil level in the engine tank started to fill up. I find it amazing that all of them don't grenade the way we run them on bass boats. There are two kinds of outboards, that have blown. But for warranty work, they are available for at least dealers. When they do open, a rush of cold water circulates around the power head, thus engine block heat meets cold, circulating water.

Somehow, I picked up a plastic bag on the lower unit blocking the water intake. There was no way to know since the compression checked out and the engine was strong when i bought it. Suddenly fishing beneath the boat, controlled drifting and waiting in place are a snap for captains of any skill level. All of the aforementioned powerheads will be available on an exchange basis. Get computer reading on that engine, compression test. Now if I could do something about all those lower units! I still have no idea what model motor we are talking about.

Cylinder heads are factory installed. This is what I was told by my Merc mechanic. Still under warranty so Yamaha sent a new power head with new oil system and also installed a water seperator for me. I suspect that based on the carbon buildup the previous owner probably wasn't running any additives to the fuel or ran the ring free. My oil pump that send oil from the main Hull resovoir was burnt up and not sending oil to the engine oil tank.
